Interview insights: are you prepared?

The difference between securing the best possible offer and an "ok" interview. Preparation done properly.

    Before the interview

    • Research their recent and live projects: names, scale, sectors.
    • Know your own numbers: project values, your role, the software you led on.
    • Have two or three STAR examples ready (Situation, Task, Action, Result).

    The technical conversation

    • Be ready to talk through a real-life design or project-related decision and why you made it.
    • Refresh the fundamentals and the relevant Regs for your discipline.
    • It's fine to think out loud. They're assessing how you reason.

    Questions worth asking

    • What does the project pipeline look like over the next year?
    • How is the team structured, and who would I learn from?
    • What support is there for CIBSE chartership and development?

    Post interview

    • Send a short, genuine thank-you within a day.
